| You know if there is one thing i noticed before i went to Acquire the Fire its that some people seem almost fake in their religion. And after bieng at ATF i now know what thats called...
It is called bieng a Cultural Christian... people say that the are a Christian when really its just something to say, people think of Jesus as their homeboy and dont really think about what He has done...
Take for example Myspace chains that say something along the lines of "I believe" and then you open and read it and notice, hey, it is a list of people that say they are Christ-like, or christians, you think it is pretty cool, almost 500 people say they are proud to call God their Father... but then at the bottom it reads, "repost this within the next ten minutes or you will be doomed to a bad love life for 44 years, 16 days and 3 and a half hours" How can that be Christ-like??? it is pretty much saying hey, i reposted this so i can have a good life when if you just know Jesus you will have a great life.
I sure hope i am not alone in my opinion, I know some people that chastise people for bieng atheistic, I actually have more respect for the atheist who knows where he/she stands... not that i agree with their opinion, but the person doing the chastising doesnt help... if you only do things that make you feel good no matter how the Lord feels about the situation how is that bieng Christ-like? Its not... so i say you have to choose... you can not be halfway in this, to be halfway in this would most definetaly fit you as a Cultural Christian. I admit that at times i fall into the secular realm and become a cultural christian but now that i have finally, after all this time, realized what i have been doing i realize it is time for a change, time for me to finally become more Christ-like, it wont be easy, the devil knows each and everyone of our weaknesses and he uses those against us in ways like, "Its just drugs/alchohol/sex/porn/cursing (the list goes on waaayy too far) it will make YOU feel good and that is all that matters" i gauruntee everyone has heard one of those before... and i admit, it is tempting but the difference is those that ENDURE through temptation like Christ did (that would make them Christ-like) and those who give in to feel good and then when someone asks, are you a christian, they say, "yes" and just walk away even though they really have no DEVOTION to God
I am not saying that people that are Christ-like dont fall in to temptation, they do, and temptation is hard to get out of, i am simply saying that those that are Christ-like completely devour the Word of God and are a beacon of light for Him.
Well if you made it through the end of my rant (serious props if you did) i just had to share what i learned this weekend, i couldnt keep it to myself. Please, if you did read this just help me to stay in line and not fall into temptation, and please, PLEASE, pray for me, i really do need it... |
